Celebrating Strength, Skill and Community Through Sport
The International Women’s Day celebrations at TBS brought together students, staff and families through a vibrant programme of sport and activity. Across football, badminton, dance and the Nutmeg Challenge, the event highlighted female participation, teamwork, sportsmanship and the power of community connection.

This year’s celebration successfully used sport as a platform to honour participation, resilience and female empowerment. The week blended competition, movement, enjoyment and community spirit, creating an uplifting atmosphere across campus. From lunch-break skill challenges to family badminton, dance sessions and a special girls’ football friendly, the programme reflected the inclusive and celebratory purpose of the occasion.

The Nutmeg Challenge
Throughout the week, girls from both primary and secondary school gathered in the sports hall during lunch breaks to take part in the Nutmeg Challenge. The initiative encouraged friendly competition and gave students an enjoyable opportunity to showcase their football skills in a supportive environment.
Parents, Teachers and Students Together
On Friday, the celebration expanded to include parents and teachers, bringing even more energy to the event. The sports hall hosted badminton matches while vibrant dance sessions added a lively and inclusive feel to the afternoon, helping to bring the school community together.
Special Women’s Day Football Friendly
The celebration concluded on Saturday with a special Women’s Day friendly match featuring the TBS Girls’ Football Team. Playing against each other in the true spirit of the occasion, the girls demonstrated impressive skill, sportsmanship, resilience and teamwork.
Community Engagement
The sports hall saw the highest engagement of the day, with the Mother and Daughter Badminton Doubles drawing a particularly strong turnout. In the cafeteria, enthusiastic parents and students joined staff members for a high-energy dance session, adding another memorable layer to the celebration.
Swimming / Water Fun Games
As part of a special International Women’s Day swimming session, students engaged in a dynamic mix of skill development and fun activities. Students enjoyed water-based adventure games, including mat challenges and object retrieval tasks, promoting teamwork and confidence. U9, U11, and U14 girls participated enthusiastically, demonstrating energy, determination, and strong team spirit throughout the session.
