Panthers show heart on the big stage

The much-anticipated 2025-26 season of the International School Activity Conference India (ISACI) officially began last weekend with the Senior School Football Championships, hosted by Stonehill International School in Bangalore. The tournament brought together some of the most talented young athletes from the International School of Hyderabad (ISH Vipers), Mahindra International School Pune (MIS Eagles) and Stonehill International School Bangalore (SIS Tigers), setting the stage for a fiercely competitive and spirited season.

Among the contenders, the TBS Panthers stood out as the youngest teams in the tournament. Despite their relative inexperience, the Panthers showcased an inspiring blend of passion, determination, and unwavering team spirit. Their energy on the field made a strong impression on spectators and opponents alike.

U19 Boys — Third-place playoff decided on penalties

The TBS Panthers boys’ team delivered a thrilling performance in the third-place playoff against the ISH Vipers. After a tense 0-0 draw at full time, the match was decided by a nerve-wracking penalty shootout that kept spectators on the edge of their seats. Under the superb leadership of captain Riccardo, the young Panthers showed remarkable composure and teamwork in the high-pressure situation.

The shootout began with Aryaveer, whose well-struck penalty was tipped onto the post by the Vipers’ goalkeeper. ISH converted their first, taking the early lead. Livan responded with nerves of steel, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way and slotting the ball calmly into the bottom right corner. Next up, Bohdi showed his class and confidence, placing his shot perfectly into the top left corner. Sidhak kept the Panthers’ hopes alive with a composed strike straight down the middle, matching ISH goal for goal. With the pressure mounting, Armaan stepped up for the Panthers’ final penalty—his powerful shot hit the crossbar, bounced down, and crossed the line to the delight of his teammates.

Everything came down to the final ISH penalty. All eyes turned to goalkeeper Edouard, who produced a moment of brilliance. Reading the shot perfectly, he launched himself with lightning speed to deflect the ball over the bar—a stunning save that secured victory and third place for the Panthers. It was a masterclass in goalkeeping and a testament to the Panthers’ resilience, teamwork, and determination. Their spirited performance throughout the tournament embodied the true values of ISACI—passion, sportsmanship, and unity.

U19 Girls — Runners-up after an electrifying final

Girl power was in full flow over the weekend as the TBS Panthers girls’ team—comprising of our talented Year 10 students—played with incredible heart and determination. Despite being the youngest team in the tournament, they rose to the occasion, demonstrating skill, teamwork, and true Panther spirit.

Day one saw an outstanding start for the girls, who won both of their opening matches in style, with Vincentina finding the back of the net on multiple occasions through her sharp attacking instincts and clinical finishing. Captains Saisha and Annika led by example, ensuring that under pressure, the defensive back line remained calm, composed, and organised.

Anika showed courage and composure in midfield, breaking up play and distributing the ball intelligently to launch several key attacks. Every player gave their all, chasing down every ball and supporting each other both on and off the pitch. The final was an intense affair—more like a game of ping pong than football—as both teams battled end to end with relentless energy. The action never stopped, it was an electrifying, nail-biting encounter that showcased the very best of girls’ football: courage, teamwork, and determination. Both sides left everything on the pitch, refusing to give an inch.

In goal, Baiduri delivered a standout performance, demonstrating bravery, confidence, and exceptional reflexes. She pulled off a series of magical saves that kept her team in contention and earned loud cheers from the crowd. Her display of goalkeeping excellence was nothing short of inspiring. Though they ended runners up on penalties, the Panthers girls left a lasting impression with their passion, sportsmanship, and unity. Their performances reflected the bright future of girls’ football at TBS and the growing strength of female athletes within the ISACI community.
