The British School Panthers junior athletics squad delivered a proud and energetic performance at the 1st Delhi State Kids’ Athletics Meet 2026, held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium from 1–2 September. Competing across the U8, U10 and U12 mixed categories, the Panthers showed courage, focus and competitive spirit in a high-level individual athletics format.
With young athletes travelling from across India, the meet provided a challenging national platform. The Panthers responded with determination, finishing with an impressive medal collection and one unforgettable record-breaking performance.
Medal Moment: 27 Podium Finishes for the Panthers
The Panthers returned with a superb medal tally of 27 medals, including 11 gold, 12 silver and 4 bronze. This strong overall performance reflected the depth of the junior athletics squad and the value of consistent preparation.
Every medal represented more than a place on the podium. It represented race-day confidence, technical effort, focus under pressure and the courage to perform in front of a large competitive field.
Zian Sets a New School Record
One of the biggest highlights of the meet came from Zian, who produced an exceptional throw of 40.83 metres. The performance was recorded as a new school record and placed him overall second in India.
It was a standout moment not only because of the distance achieved, but because it showed what young athletes can do when technical development, confidence and competitive readiness come together at the right time.
A National Platform for Young Panthers
The competition brought together approximately 1,200 young athletes from across India, including participants from Delhi, Assam, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
For the Panthers, this created an excellent opportunity to experience a larger and more competitive athletics environment. Events of this scale help young athletes understand performance routines, warm-up preparation, competition pressure and the importance of staying focused across the day.
High-Level Competition
Panthers athletes competed alongside young athletes from several Indian states, gaining valuable exposure to a wider competitive field.
Junior Development
The event provided important performance checks for the junior athletics team and helped track progress across the season.
Strong Organisation
The report notes that the competition was well organised and finished on time, supporting a positive athlete experience.
Why This Meet Matters
For a junior athletics programme, competitions like this are essential. They provide more than results; they give athletes opportunities to test themselves, learn from competition conditions and build the confidence needed for future events.
The Panthers’ performance showed that the junior team is developing strongly. The medal tally demonstrated consistency, while the school record highlighted the exciting potential within the squad.
Panthers Pride in Athletics
Congratulations to all Panthers athletes who represented TBS with energy, courage and commitment. With 27 medals and a new school record, this was a proud moment for the junior athletics programme and the wider Panthers community.
